Our Superhero Ingredients explained:
Beeswax – our key ingredient! It has fantastic skin-softening properties and enhances skin elasticity, helping reduce the signs of ageing. Beeswax is anti-allergenic, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial – that’s a lot of ‘anti-‘ but don’t be deceived – it’s actually a very friendly ingredient!
Cocoa Butter – now, this is a real gem! It contains a high amount of fatty acids which help to hydrate the skin. The fat in cocoa butter creates a protective barrier that holds in moisture and prevents your skin from drying.
Coconut Oil – one of the benefits of coconut oil for skin is that it helps to increase the natural production of collagen, which is the main building block of your skin. We also love it because it reduces inflammation and and helps heal wounds, so will work wonders on chapped, cracked, broken lips (all you lip-lickers can thank us later!)
Sweet Almond Oil – we throw it in (well, pour it actually) for its nourishing properties. It contains many nutrients that are good for the skin, including vitamin E, vitamin A, vitamin B-7, essential fatty acids, potassium, proteins and zinc. Just WOW.
Emolient: Fractionated Coconut Oil – yes, more coconut! Emolients are just magical: they cover your skin with a protective film to trap in moisture. They also help us achieve a lush, melt-on-the=skin texture for our lip balms.
Vitamin E – we absolutely had to infuse our lip balm with good old vitamin E; it helps protect delicate lips skin from damage thanks to its antioxidants. It’s also extremely hydrating – it’s both a ‘humectant’ and an ’emollient’ – so it helps your skin absorb water and traps it within the skin too. Finally, it’s a natural preservative – it ensures not only that your lip balm doesn’t go off, but also ‘preserves’ your skin by keeping the lipids (natural fats in the skin) fresh.
Natural Aromas aka Flavours – finally, the flavours. We use natural flavours derived from plants, herbs, fruit etc. They are ‘food grade’, so basically you’re OK to lick your lips without having to worry about what nasty chemicals you might be ingesting.
The flavours aren’t sweet but will have a hint of deliciousness.
